Answering questions

So many papers to complete-- from formula preference to nighttime routine--makes me think PICU will be a bit like home...

Insurance approval for surgery and helmet has gone through!  For those of you in the health care world, this is a major victory!

A very common question that many of you are asking is "Does Josie have any problems now?"
The answer is no.  She has no developmental delays or other problems to indicate that this is causing problems now.

Another common question is "What will happen if surgery is not done?"
The brain will continue to grow in the "closed box" and as it gets larger, this can lead to increased pressure in the skull.  The complications from this are vast, ranging from seizures to blindness to developmental delays.  There are cases of uncorrected saggital craniosynostosis patients living into adulthood without any problems other than the shape of the skull.  Clearly, we are not risking these complications for Josie.

So many of you already have expressed your concern and prayers.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.  Please put Josie on the prayer lists of your local church.

We are doing well.  One day, one step, one prayer at a time...

  1. Congrats on your precious babies. I will be praying for Josie. I have a wonderful friend and prayer warrior who has a girl that had the same thing (she is now a teen and doing great). She said she would love to talk to you. Her name is Margaret Newton her phone number is 5019126905. I believe she will be an encouragement and a blessing to you
